Library Skills Classes (LSC): What we are doing in class!

(Library Classes are 25 minutes each week) Students will participate in class and check-out/renew materials.

Overall objective: All individuals will have the skill development to make informative decisions in finding information through literacy (be self-sufficient).

Topics:

Objectives:

Students will:

- explain the elements of a story

- explain how to use online resources


Grades K-2

Standards:1.2.2, 2.2.3 & 3.2.5/1.2.4, 2.2.7 & 3.2.3

Activities:

Grade K: Students will investigate World Book Online (library.sd.gov).

Grades 1 & 2: Students will finish presenting stories. Checkout/renew materials.

Grade 4:

Standards:1.5.1, 2.5.3 & 3.5.5

Activities:

Students will finish presenting their own story and character puppets (with elements of a story/use of puppetry) working in groups of two - three. Check out/renew materials.

Grade 5:

Standards: 1.5.1, 2.5.3 & 3.5.5

Activities: Students will finish presenting stories that include elements of a story and use puppetry. Checkout/Renew materials.


Grade 6:

Standards:1.8.1, 2.8.3 & 3.8.5

Activities:

Students will finish presenting their own story working in pairs that includes the elements of a story using puppetry; evaluate stories. Check-out/renew material.
